Fishing


'Inishlosky', O'Brien's Bridge, is the perfect base for the keen 'Coarse Angler' with the Shannon River, Lough Derg, Doon Lake, Bridget Lake, Kilgory Lake and the East Clare Lakelands within easy reach.
Salmon fishing can be done locally off "The Bridge" or on the famous salmon beats at Castleconnell and the Mulcair River. Many small rivers and lakes in the locality also provide very good trout fishing.
Sea Angling off the Clare Coast or in the Shannon Estuary can be arranged from Kilrush.

Where to Fish

River Shannon: The largest river in Ireland.
On its final decent it flows through the two picturesque villages of O’Brien’s Bridge and Castleconnell, both prominent angling centres. The river at these two centres offers superb course, Pike and Salmon fishing from easily accessible banks.

Lough Derg: The largest lake on the river Shannon. ( 10 min. drive )
It covers an area of 13,000 hectares. The lake is a natural mixed fishery which offers superb Course, Pike, and Brown Trout fishing. There is a lot of natural access for shore fishing and a stretch of shoreline has been developed with fishing stands at ‘Two-mile-gate’ near Killaloe.This stretch has become famous for its big catches of Bream.

Doon Lake: One of 40 Lakes in the East Clare Lakelands. ( 15 min. drive )
Situated along the roadside near the village of Broadford, Doon Lake is easily accessible for boats and also has lots of natural bank fishing space. There is good fishing for Bream, Roach and Pike.


Bridget Lake
Only a short distance from Tulla, Bridget Lake is renowned for its’ Tench, while also recording good catches of Bream, Roach and Pike. 30 fishing stands, some of which are wheelchair accessible, have been developed immediately off the lakeside car park. (15 min. drive )


Kilgory Lake
Another of the East Clare Lakes, this 70 acre lake is primarily a Bream fishery, but with reasonable stocks of Tench, Rudd, Hybrids, Pike and Perch. The lake has over 20 causeway fishing stands of stone, extending outside its’ reeded edges, and is surrounded by striking woodlands and hills. ( 20 min drive )
